Learning Magic Tricks
Doesn't matter how old or young you are; learning magic tricks is not that hard. If you have the drive to learn, and the commitment to stick to it, you will soon find out that learning magic tricks is pretty much an easy thing to do.
That's not to say that are not difficult tricks out there, there certainly are; but if you learn the easier tricks first and become pretty familiar with the general techniques and tips in magic, then you can take on the more difficult tricks and master them. That way, if you keep approaching every thing you do while learning magic tricks as stepping stones to the harder, more trying tricks; then you will not only build up your repertoire over time, but also your skill level.
And speaking of skill level, in order to build it up and keep perfecting it you must invest a lot of time and practice, practice, practice. Practice is the key to a smooth and flawless performance no matter how difficult or easy the trick is that you are performing, and learning magic tricks also forces you to know how to cover up a blooper and when.
The most important thing is to keep the audience involved and enjoying the performance. It's a sad fact, but you too are only human and no matter how hard you try or how long you've practiced, every now and then somewhere you will mess up or something will go wrong.
Learning magic tricks means also learning to roll with the punches, and to make the best of things as they happen, good or bad. When learning magic tricks, another important factor is to learn how to work your audience. If you make a mistake or drop something, whatever, that's fine; and if you are the only one who noticed the flub, even better.
But even if the audience did notice that you botched part of the trick, you need to cover it up quickly and get them to believe you were just fooling and it was a part of the trick. If that isn't working, just let them in on the fact that sometimes you just can't help but have mistakes occur, and they were privy to seeing that happen.
You're just a magician and you are not infallible, so things will go wrong. Don't wish for a hole in the floor to swallow you up when these blunders happen, just be ready for it, deal with the best you can, and keep on going.
Another key factor you must keep in mind when learning magic tricks even if you are performing or fooling around with magic as a hobby; is that you have to be an actor. Sometimes you have to look like what just happened in the act caught you by surprise just as much as the audience, and look like you really mean it so the audience stays hooked. Acting is an integral part of the act and learning magic tricks leans heavily on this fact.
Overall that has been said about learning magic tricks, the most important factor by far is the fact that you must believe and have faith in yourself and your ability to perform the magic tricks. Once you have conquered that, then it's not too far a stretch for the audience to believe it too.
