Free Easy Card Tricks

The following is a description of one of these free easy card tricks that requires only a handkerchief, a toothpick, and a regular deck of playing cards. To make this trick a reality without a blunder, practice is of the order here so the audience is appreciative.
The first thing you need to do is prepare the playing field for the trick. Pick up the toothpick and measure it against the short side of a playing card, then cut the toothpick so it is exactly the same width as the card. Place the cut toothpick in the hem of the handkerchief. Make sure the toothpick is in tightly so it won't fall out while you are performing the trick and blow it.
Now, time to do your thing. Place the deck of cards in a messy pile on the table and tell your audience what you are about to do. Then, with a flourish and some magic words, lay the handkerchief over the cards making sure the toothpick side is near you. Then, after a few more magic words, grab the edges of the toothpick making it look like you are grasping a card by the edges under the handkerchief.
Now lift the "card" slowly from the deck of cards, into the air. To the audience it looks like you have a real card concealed under the handkerchief...and with a few more magic words, whip open the handkerchief so they can see that the card has disappeared. How's that.
Very simple and effective. And one of the most fun card tricks to perform because the audience has been duped and they can simply not figure out where the card went. All the while you are expanding your repertoire by using free easy card tricks. Nice.
